Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to an accident involving a car driving into a pool.
The reported accident happened at a house on Fortner Drive in Sterling Heights just south of M-59.
A witness told Action News the "driver fell asleep."
The driver, who was traveling on the northbound side of the Van Dyke freeway near the Utica exit, lost control and crashed his car through fencing, a shed and a pool, leaving quite the mess.
"I pulled up and I looked and there was a car in my backyard," said Amanda Young, who lives at the home with Nicholas Harney.
The white SUV slammed through their fence.
"I walked up to him and I said, 'What's going on?' He goes, 'I think I fell asleep,'" Young said.
Then the driver attempted to start his car, she said. That's when Young just began pacing around her backyard.
The driver, who hasn't been named, was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
"If it was yesterday it would've been a wreck," Nicholas Harvey said. "That wouldn't have been good at all. I'm glad (the driver) didn't get hurt. I'm glad. I really don't care about the yard."
Police are still investigating the incident.
