CENTER LINE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Come along for a cruise and explore a new neighborhood this summer with our new series, 7 In Your Neighborhood.

This week we’re heading to Center Line to help the city kick off the Center Line Independence Festival and a new classic car cruise, Cruisin’ 53.

WXYZ Anchor Dave LewAllen will be broadcasting live from the Center Line Independence Festival Friday at Memorial Park, starting at 5 p.m. There will be live entertainment, inflatables, square dancing, food and much more.

The festival kicks off festivities for Cruisin’ 53, which will take place Saturday along Van Dyke, north of 10 Mile Road from noon to 6 p.m. The new cruise has brought Center Line and its neighbor, Warren, together to work together on this new initiative.

In addition to covering the festival, WXYZ is exploring the mom and pop shops that have kept the bedroom community thriving.

Starting at 6 a.m. Friday, we’ll feature http://eastsidebike.50webs.com/ on Van Dyke Avenue. The shop specializes in restoring vintage bikes.

And at 6 p.m., we’ll introduce you to Center Line City Manager Dennis Champine.

Stay tuned!
