Listen up moms and dads in Macomb County: If you have been avoiding paying child support, the sheriff may be coming for you.
A week-long sweep begins today.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office will be arresting parents who have outstanding warrants for not paying their child support. They are devoting extra resources to this all week.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham and the Macomb County Friend of the Court are announcing this sweep in advance so that those who have outstanding warrants can turn themselves in and avoid being arrested.
They say if you do voluntarily appear in court, you may qualify for a special program that could help you reduce what you owe.
The Macomb County Friend of the Court is located at 40 N. Main Street in Mt. Clemens.
