CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A serial car scratcher is on the loose. Right now, Clinton Township police need your help identifying a man they say is responsible for scratching several cars in the parking lot at the Clinton Macomb library on Romeo Plank.

People who visit the library weekly say they’re concerned, and they don’t want their cars vandalized but say overall they feel safe in the parking lot.

"A lot of times it's near dark or after dark, I come out here by myself and it’s kind of nerving," said Jan Perkins, a tutor at the library. "It sounds like it’s just out of spite like there’s nothing he’s getting out of it, he’s just doing it to cause destruction."

Officers say the man drives a late model dark Buick LaCrosse or a gray/silver Buick Enclave. Police say he’s responsible for numerous incidents since March.

Amy Baker, who goes to the library one a week, is hoping the man is caught soon.

"Everybody worries about their own property, if it just started happening hopefully they’ll catch him," Baker said.

People say something like this can happen anywhere and a library is no exception.

"It can happen anywhere," Baker said. "I got my truck and the first week I got it keyed."

Officers say the man walks up to a parked car and scratches the paint with a sharp object. People who attend the library several times a week say they hope someone recognizes this guy so his hateful acts can be stopped.

"I trust the staff here," Perkins said. "I’m sure they’re doing everything they can do and I’m sure if they’re working with police already, I’m sure they’ve got it under control."

If you recognize the man seen in the pictures your urges to call Clinton Township police.
