BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — At Golling Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Bloomfield Hills technicians replaced batteries for several customers today.
The sub-zero temperatures can be hard on your car’s battery.
“If the battery is a little old or a little weak, this cold is going to zap it,” said Bill Golling, the dealership’s president.
Rolling says the average life of a battery is about five years. If your battery is getting older you can bring it in to do a battery test.
People often find out their battery needs to be replaced on extremely cold days because a cold battery has reduced cranking power, plus cold motor oil is thicker.
