An accident on the job has sidelined a local man for months, but thanks to the generosity of others, he got a lot of helping hands when he needed them most.
Bob Cadreau says he had no idea just how many people cared about him, but when he got hurt on the job, he realized he had a second family.
Cadreau was unloading a hilo, hanging on a chain when a freak accident happened. A semi ran him over and left him with two broken legs.
He is a rigger at Lee Machinery Movers in Pontiac, and moving heaving equipment is something he's done for 19 years.
When Cadreau got home from the hospital, his wife says he needed help with everything. He couldn't work, and he was especially worried about getting wood for the winter since they use a wood stove to heat their home.
Last weekend, after his sons put together a flyer asking for help, more than 20 co-workers showed up ready to work.
In the pouring rain, they cut enough firewood to get Cadreau and his family through the spring.
