WXYZ DETROIT — Once again, it’s time to catch up on our Community Comments.

Several viewers commented on our editorial about the White House’s attempt to cut restoration funds for the Great Lakes.

Andie Lindstrom said:

“Donald Trump is once again trying to decimate Great Lakes funding with his destructive budget proposal.”

Susan Eubank’s wrote:

“And yet Trump claims he loves and supports Michigan and it’s residents. Did someone forget to tell him Michigan is the Great Lakes State?”

Drake Herz asked:

“What about Canada dumping nuclear waste at Lake Huron’s shoreline?”

Karen Elizabeth said:
“Michigan gives away billions of gallons of water every year to Nestle Waters for a yearly $200 permit fee.”

Steve Hayes:
“I must see what this fund is restoring, or is it spent on steaks and lobster tails?”

But our greatest feedback was in response to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s state gas tax hike proposal. We had hundreds of comments.

“If the standards are minimal and weight limits are high, is it any wonder that our roads are falling apart?”
- Audry

Lisa Ponoski said:
Between gas tax and car insurance we are going to make everyone broke.”

Chris Lewis wrote:
“Why don’t we just observe how Ohio treats their roads and follow. Ohio has cheaper gas, and cheaper auto insurance.”

Alice Meronek said:

“Michigan needs to clean up their accounting and fund the damn roads from money already collected for the roads!!!

And finally, James Holland said succinctly:

“I do not think 45-cents it's enough money for Michigan roads”

That’s it for now, Thanks for writing.
