JACKSON, Mich. (WXYZ) — Consumers Energy is making progress restoring outages to customers across Michigan Saturday morning.

The company says 200 crews from eight states have restored electric service to more than 153,700 customers. As of 4:30 a.m. Saturday, nearly 77,300 customers are still experiencing power outages, mostly in West Michigan.

Electric equipment and trees coated in ice along with wind gusts up to 55 mph caused the outages, Consumer Energy reported.

While crews are working around the clock to restore power, "final restoration for customers in the hardest hit areas may continue in Monday."
