(WXYZ) — Michigan has recorded the seventh highest number of cases and the fourth highest number of deaths in the last 7 days, per the CDC COVID Data Tracker.
According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Michigan also has the sixth highest hospitalization rate and the seventh highest number of COVID patients in the ICU.
MDHHS says case rates have been decreasing over the past week, but percent positivity, which is at 14.4%, has plateaued for the past three weeks.
Positivity has plateaued in most regions statewide, MDHHS said. For the second straight week, cases have continued to decrease, but current case rates remain some of the highest to date during the pandemic.
Additionally, the number of reported outbreaks has increased from the previous week. However, the increasing rate of deaths has slowed.
In the last 30 days, nearly 10 percent of deaths occurred among those younger than 60.
