(WXYZ) — J.C. Penney is planning to close hundreds of stores this summer.
The retailer expects to close about 154 locations in 20 states. J.C. Penney filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May. The company is struggling to overcome debt and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In Michigan, stores in Alpena, Cadillac and Petoskey will close this summer. None of the closures are planned for stores in metro Detroit.
