Michigan reports 1,358 new cases of COVID-19, 104 new deaths

(WXYZ) — Michigan reported 1,358 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and 104 new deaths from the virus.

That brings the total number of cases to 559,241 and the total number of deaths from the virus to 14,601.

Of the 104 deaths announced on Saturday, there were 93 identified during a vital records review.

There are currently 80,300 active cases of COVID-19, according to the state.

Restaurants are expected to open on Monday after being closed since mid-November. There was also a large rally at the Capitol on Saturday to let high school players begin winter contact sports.
