(WXYZ) — Michigan reported 565 new cases of COVID-19 and 6 new deaths on Sunday.
This brings the total number of cases to 92,720 since the pandemic began in March and 6,324 deaths total.
As of Aug. 14, a cumulative total of 67,778 have recovered from the virus in the state.
On Friday, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said the state is seeing a plateau in COVID-19 cases, but there is still more work to be done.
Whitmer said that despite being one of the hardest hit states during the pandemic, Michigan's average infection rate last month was half that of Ohio, Indian and Wisconsin.
There were 39,275 tests done in the state on Thursday, the second-highest number of tests done ever. The day before, more than 40,000 tests were done.
