Police say just after 3 a.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to a home on Seeden Street in Waterford Township for a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, they were approached by the defendant, 38-year-old William Mitchell Kuchon. The defendant's wife, a 39-year-old woman, was found with a stab wound to her chest, police say. She later died at a local hospital.
Kuchon was taken into police custody. The couple's 13-year-old daughter was inside the home at the time of the incident but was unharmed.
The knife used in the killing was found at the scene. Police did not release information regarding the defendant's alleged animal torture charge. This remains an ongoing investigation.
