A new partnership will help expand a safety program in Detroit. Project Green Light is getting a boost.

Comcast is joining the city and police department to help bolster the crime-fighting program across the city.

This is the first company to step in and join the partnership between Detroit businesses and police.

Project Green Light began earlier this year with several gas stations adding high-definiton surveillance cameras inside and outside their businesses that link directly to the police department allowing police to monitor crime in real time.

Channel 7 has been there time and again as gas stations often become the targeted location for shootings. The program is aimed at deterring those crimes.

Today, Green Light businesses include not only gas stations but fast food locations, party stores, restaurants and markets.
