(WXYZ) — Attorney General Dana Nessel will speak at a rally for gun safety at the Michigan State Capitol on Tuesday.
She will be joined by volunteers with the Michigan Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, part of Everytown for Gun Safety.
Volunteers are urging lawmakers to pass legislation to "help keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers."
Red Flag bills HB 4283 and HB 4284 let law enforcement and family members seek a court order to temporarily block a person from having guns if they are a danger to themselves or others.
Nessel will be speaking about the importance of various gun violence prevention initiatives with volunteers.
The rally will take place Tuesday from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
