DETROIT (WXYZ) — It's freezing cold out and the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) is helping residents reach their destinations free of charge because of it.

In a post on Facebook, DDOT announced free fares all day Wednesday on all bus routes. The free fares have also been extended to Thursday.

"If you leave the house, we have you covered," the post read.

Temperatures will fall well below zero Wednesday, with a wind chill warning in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday. DDOT also made a point to list local warming centers for those in need. View our list of warming centers here.
