Deputies: Boyfriend arrested for strangling, throwing knives at girlfriend in Orion Twp.

ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — An Orion Township man was arrested late Sunday night for allegedly strangling and throwing knives at his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the home and heard screaming coming from the basement. They made entry and spoke with the victim, 28-year-old woman, who said that her boyfriend, a 41-year-old man, tried to kill her by strangling her and throwing knives at her. Deputies did see several kitchen knives scattered throughout the house. The victim was able to get away and call 911.

Deputies then found the boyfriend in a nearby bathroom and tried to arrest him. He resisted and kicked deputies, while also knocking over a table onto deputies before he was restrained and taken into custody.

Police say the suspect took his girlfriend's vehicle without permission and when he returned, he found out she called the police. That's when deputies say he began to strangle her and throw knives ta her.

The suspect told police he had consumed alcohol and took apbout 200 unknown pills prescribed to the victim. He was taken to the hospital.

While at McLaren-Oakland Hospital, he continued to be aggressive and didn't cooperate, and the hospital had to be placed on lock down due to his behavior. He was admitted for a possible drug overdose. He is now under police watch at the hospital.
