DETROIT (WXYZ) — A new stock market-style bar that started in western Michigan is making its way to downtown Detroit. The manager of the Kalamazoo Beer Exchange tells 7 Action News that the market will open on Washington Blvd. near The Westin Book Cadillac. The story was first reported by Annalise Frank from Crain's Detroit Business.
The Kalamazoo Beer Exchange features 28 beers from around the world and the state. The price of the beer fluctuates based on the popularity, similar to how the stock market works.
According to the website, there is also a "market crash" which sends beer prices plunging. They also offer a full menu with bar plates, sandwiches, entrees, salads and more.
According to a search of the liquor licenses from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission, the bar could have two bars and will also be allowed to sell beer to go.
It's not clear when the bar is expected to open.
