(WXYZ) — Plan to have a little extra taken out of your bank if you hit up an ATM in Detroit. According to a study from bankrate.com, metro Detroit has the third highest out-of-network ATM fee in the country.
According to the study, Detroit's average out-of-network ATM fee is $5.27, which is more expensive than some of the largest cities in America. Only Atlanta, with $5.50, and Houston, with $5.58, have higher average fees.
While that ATM fees are high, the study found that Detroit has the seventh lowest overdraft fee of the 25 major metro areas examined. The average for metro Detroit is $32.90.
