(WXYZ) — A new list from the website SmartAsset took a look at some of the best cities for beer drinkers, but there's one major city missing from the list – Detroit.
The website took a look at five factors to determine the best cities. They are: Total number of breweries, breweries per 100,000 residents, average number of beers per brewery, bars per 100,000 residents and average price for a pint of domestic beer in each city.
Cincinnati shows up at the top, followed by St. Louis, Portland, Asheville, N.C., Pittsburgh, Denver, Bend, Oregon, Madison, Wis. Missoula, Montana and Cleveland.
In Michigan, grand Rapids shows up at No. 15 – makes sense because they're known as "beer city," and Kalamazoo shows up at No. 45. But again, Detroit isn't on the list of the top 50. WHAT?!
Here's a list of some of the incredible breweries and bars in Detroit alone that should put us SOMEWHERE in the top 50 cities for beer drinkers.
– Atwater Brewery
– Batch Brewing Company
– Eastern Market Brewing Company
– Detroit Beer Co.
– Jolly Pumpkin
– Motor City Brewing Works
– Traffic Jam and Snug
– Brew Detroit
– Brewery Faisan
And that doesn't even include the breweries across the metro area, or the many, many beer bars in Detroit serving up craft beer and major domestic beers, plus other places like Cadieux Cafe serving up some unique Belgian beers.
Check out the list below from SmartAsset to see other places in the country that are apparently better than Detroit for beer drinkers.
