Detroit police seek suspect involved in fatal assault of man after car accident

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with the fatal assault of a man on the city's west side Monday.

Police are looking for 23-year-old Lawrence James Davis.

According to a release, at 1:51 a.m., the 24-year-old victim was assaulted by the suspect and died at the scene. Family has identified the victim as Tyler Wingate.

Witnesses say the victim got into a vehicle accident with a Chevy Impala in the 13500 block of Livernois. Davis allegedly exited the Impala, approached the victim and began to physically assault him, striking and kicking him multiple times.

Davis then fled the scene on foot with three other men.

Wingate's family created a GoFundMe page to raise money to help after their unexpected tragedy.
