Detroit's 98.7 AMP Radio is being replaced with another format.

Entercom announced the launch of 98.7 The Breeze in Detroit.

Replacing the original Top 40 format, The Breeze will feature more contemporary, "relaxing" favorites ranging from artists like Elton John, Fleetwood Mac and Boyz II Men to Adele, Alicia Keys and Sara Bareilles.

“We are excited to launch 987 The Breeze and to fill this void in the Motor City’s music scene,” said Debbie Kenyon, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Entercom Detroit in a press release. “We know the station will become a must-listen to make your workday breeze by.”

The station originally switched to all Christmas music for a few days before making the sudden format change.

A source told 7 Action News that all employees but one from 98.7 AMP Radio were laid off.

The station is celebrating the launch by playing 10,000 songs commercial-free, which started at 5 p.m. on Nov. 12.
