Decades of domestic violence the man responsible for horrific crimes, now on the run wanted in Macomb County.

James Krancevic has a long history of violence beginning in 1995 and escalating in severity.

With more than seven charges of domestic violence the registered sex offender has taken off, now landing at the top of the U.S. Marshals Most Wanted list.

“She could have very well lost her life,” Deputy Justin Efthemiou with the U.S. Marshals DFAT said.

It’s a story police have heard over and over again: women abused at the hands of 66-year-old James Krancevic.

“His live in girlfriend was pregnant and at some point an argument ensued and he assaulted her,” Efthemiou said.

But Krancevic’s pregnant girlfriend was only one of his many victims in his decades of domestic abuse spanning more than 20 years the crimes only getting worse with each woman he met.

“He tied his girlfriend down and assaulted her with a box cutter and a belt, whipped her numerous times with the belt, then he sexually assaulted her,” Efthemiou said.

That 2005 conviction of rape, assault and strangulation also landed Krancevic on the sex offender registry.

“This is why we have a system of checks and balances is place, as he was convicted as a sex offender, he’s required to register for life as a sex offender so that way law enforcement and the general public knows where these guys are at,” Efthemiou said.

But he’s taken off and the U.S. Marshals need your help to find him.

“He could have changed his name, he could have changed his looks very easily and then assumed a new identity with someone else who has no idea about his history or violent behavior,” Efthemiou said.

James Krancevic is 6’2” tall and 175 pounds, he’s from the east side but the Marshals believe he could be anywhere.

“The main area is Macomb County- Roseville, Shelby Township, Warren, Eastpointe,” Efthemiou said. “However investigations have led to him possibly residing in Detroit and even being homeless at this point.”
