The Detroit Tigers postponed Opening Day on Thursday for the first time in Comerica Park history, and the postponement caused a mess and confusion in parking lots surrounding the park.
With fans arriving much earlier than normal for the game, many fans were already parked and tailgating when the team postponed the game around 9 a.m.
Afterwards, fans in lot 2 outside of Comerica Park were forced to leave, while people in the next lot over were still partying in lot 1.
No one knew what was going on, and then it was determined that the parking lot attendants made a mistake and they were not supposed to clear the lots.
Instead, Tigers policy is that fans have until 2 hours after postponement, around 11 a.m. to leave the lot and get a refund, but they could stay in the lot and tailgate after 11 a.m. but they wouldn't get a refund.

UPDATE: They weren’t supposed to clear the lot!!! All of Lot 2 outside Comerica Park is gone, but I’m told they were SUPPOSED to leave by 11a for refunds... listen to this exchange. @wxyzdetroit pic.twitter.com/gjCAE4Jm6X
