A murder in Kentucky has police on a multi-state manhunt for a dangerous fugitive.

Police say Robert Mckissic left evidence at the scene linking him to the deadly shooting then came back to Detroit where he has people helping him hide.

“The gun shot goes off, one shot to the chest, the victim falls down,” Deputy Aaron Garcia, Supervisor of the U.S. Marshals DFAT said.

The U.S. Marshals say that gunshot killed a 51-year-old Kentucky man.

While police say several witnesses identified Mckissic as the killer, it was evidence he left at the scene at this apartment complex in Lexington, Kentucky that was confirmation.

“He dropped his cell phone at the scene and that’s what led police to his identity,” Garcia said.

Robert Mckissic is 30-years-old and a Detroit native.

“This guy, his entire family is from the Detroit area, his family, his girlfriend’s family- we believe they’re together, we believe she knows he’s wanted for homicide, we believe she’s helping him,” Garcia said.

Police found Mckissic’s girlfriend’s car, confirmation they’re both back home.

“A Kentucky vehicle that belongs to her was found here in the Detroit area recently,” Garcia said.

Mckissic has a long criminal history, he’s 5’9” tall 175 pounds and believed to be armed and dangerous.

“We believe he still has a gun on him, he’s a cold blooded killer and he will kill again,” Garcia said.
