The pandemic put a halt on the WXYZ "Give A Child A Book" campaign book distribution, but now, the more than $60,000 you helped us raise is finally getting into the hands of kids in the form of books.
On Monday, a drive-thru book fair was held at West Utica Elementary School where 400 children each got three free books.
It's one of four drive-thru events from our campaign.
The books came from generous donations from WXYZ employees, WXYZ viewers, the Scripps Howard Foundation and our advertisers. Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights was on site for this book fair.
