MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — Roseville police confirm a fatal crash and shooting occurred Thursday evening on eastbound I-94 at 12 Mile in Macomb County and there was at least one fatality.

The crash, police say, stems from a family disagreement.

"It was reported that possible shots were fired during the family trouble. An individual involved in that incident sped from that location and entered onto I-94. It was reported that this individual was driving against traffic on the expressway causing a head on collision," Ryan Monroe with the Roseville Police Department said in a statement to 7 Action News.

"Details are still being sorted out. Several individuals are seriously injured resulting from the accident. We will update this information when more details are available."

After shots were fired, police say they were "not initially chasing the suspect."

"Our officers were responding to a vehicle driving the wrong way on the expressway and to the location of the family trouble at the same time. I would not call this a pursuit. They were driving with lights and sirens to alert traffic of the vehicle going the wrong way," Police said.

Nearby residents say they heard and even felt the crash upon impact.

No further information is known at this time.
