WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — Eastbound I-96 local at M-39 in Wayne County is closed Wednesday morning following a fatal crash.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., police say that the driver of a Chevy Tahoe lost control from the ramp from NB or SB M-39 to EB I-96 Express lanes.
The Tahoe ran off the roadway to the right, crossing down the embankment through the local lanes of EB I-96 and into the right embankment wall.
The driver, a 63-year-old Detroit man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to MDOT, vehicles are being directed to eastbound I-96 express lanes as a result of the closed freeway.
