"We shattered all records for most votes cast in the history of the state," Whitmer said.
Whitmer said 71 percent of the voting age population in Michigan cast a ballot in this election, the largest number in 60 years.
She went on to acknowledge the state's poll workers.
"Democracy is a team sport," she said. "Here in Michigan, we worked hard to ensure the outcome was determined by the will of our people."
