Fall events at Detroit's Beacon Park include Cider in the City, Lions watch parties & more

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Summer isn't quite over yet, but DTE's Beacon Park in downtown Detroit is gearing up for fall with free events during the entire season. Located at Grand River and Cass near DTE headquarters, there are several events throughout Fall for people of all ages.

According to the company, it will start with Rocket Horror Picture Show Shadowcast on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14. The Detroit Actor's Theatre Company will perform and mirror the movie, and it's free to attend with cocktails available for purchase.

On Sept. 21-22, the 5th annual Parktoberfest will return with a two-day celebration of German-style food, music, entertainment and more. This year will also incude the Big Biergarten Tent, which will host keg tappings, stein hoisting competitions and a taste-test for a variety of craft and specialty beer.

Starting on Sept. 28 and happening every Saturday through Oct. 26, Cider in the City Saturdays will return with Blake's Orchard and Cider Mill offering fresh donuts, cider, caramel apples and free horse-drawn hayrides at Beacon Park. Each week will also include free-themed activities.

Detroit's Month of Design is a citywide celebration of creativity, and from Sept. 20 - Oct. 13, an art installation and prototypes will be on display.

Fall also means football, and there will be several watch parties for both Michigan, Michigan State and the Detroit Lions throughout the fall.

Saturday, Oct. 5 - Michigan State vs. Ohio State - 6:30 - 11 p.m.
Mondy, Oct. 14 - Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers - 7 - 11 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 3 - Detroit Lions vs. Oakland Raiders - 3 - 8 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 10 - Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears - 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 16 - Michigan vs. Michigan State - TBD
Saturday, Nov. 30 - Michigan vs. Ohio State - 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 8 - 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, it will be Halloween Family Fun Day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with trick-or-treating, face painting, projects, cider and donuts, music and more more.
