DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Detroit family is grieving after losing a member of their family to gun violence this weekend.

Isiah Mathis, 25, and two others were shot on Manor Street in Detroit Saturday morning. He was in critical condition at the hospital, where he later died. A 23-year-old man was also killed in this shooting. The third victim, also a 23-year-old man, remains in temporary serious condition.

The three victims were sitting in a vehicle when a dark SUV pulled up to it and fired shots.

“Isiah is my best friend you know. That’s my whole life," Mesey, Isiah's sister, told 7 Action News.

Isiah is being remembered as a proud father and a loving family member who had his entire life ahead of him.

For his mother, there is no comfort. And now, she wants the person responsible to know that they've also impacted another life.

“He’s got one little girl. He just had her a few months ago.” said Sonja Johnson, Isiah's mother. "He means everything to me. I’m just lost. That’s all I’ve got to say."

Detroit police continue to investigate the shooting. Currently, there are no suspects.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to assist with expenses for Mathis' infant daughter here.
