The lockdown at Farmington High School has been lifted after a magazine of bullets was found inside the school on Friday afternoon.
We're told the magazine, filled with .40 cal bullets, was found in the auditorium.
The school said the students and staff were not in danger and that the school is safe. Nothing additional was found during the search of the auditorium.
In a letter to parents, the school district said:
We wanted to let you you know that we have placed Farmington High School in a lockdown as a precautionary measure due to a 40 caliber magazine of bullets that was found in the auditorium.
We do not feel that our students or staff are in any danger but are working closely with the Farmington Public Safety Department in their investigation. We will be searching the auditorium area with a canine unit as an extra precaution.
We will provide an update to you as soon as we have more information.
