(WXYZ) — The battle of the chicken sandwiches hit social media Monday.
After Popeyes released its first fried chicken sandwich nationwide last week to rave reviews, a few chain competitors chimed in to remind customers of the classic taste they love.
The Twitter feud started when Chick-fil-A essentially tweeted that they're not new to the game, they're true to the game – highlighting its sandwich as "The original."

Popeyes quickly replied by tweeting the question, "Y'all good?", sensing the closed-on-Sundays restaurant might have been a bit pressed about the new release.
... y’all good? https://t.co/lPaTFXfnyP

The mocking tone of its tweet garnered a lot of attention. And of course, Wendy's couldn't stay out of the fray. The clapback queen herself tweeted this from her throne:
Y’all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second best chicken sandwich. pic.twitter.com/4v9RJFgy0T

Popeyes was having none of it, and quickly responded with this seemingly self-deprecating deep-fried dig:
Sounds like someone just ate one of our biscuits. Cause y’all looking thirsty. https://t.co/89eqI5vk2z

A couple other fast food chains, including Shake Shack and Bojangles', tried to make a claim for their sandwich but were immediately shut down by some Twitter users.
If you're lookin' for a chicken sandwich (without the beef 😉), you know where to find us. pic.twitter.com/2wtV2POvFf

Honestly I’m just glad that in the midst of this chicken war we all banded together and got Shake Shack outta here for their prices.

It got so hot in the kitchen, Bojangles' went ahead and deleted their tweet.
Have you tried Popeye's new fried chicken sandwich?
Some Detroiters may be just a little apprehensive after 7 Action New reporter Kim Craig's story last year that uncovered a Detroit Popeyes had very serious health violations. The investigation was the launching pad for the viral hit song "Popeyes got roaches."
If you've tried it, let us know what you think. And tell us which fried chicken sandwich reigns supreme.
