Fatal parking lot shooting in Detroit started as an argument

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened in a parking lot in Detroit.

The 29-year-old victim and the suspect were arguing in a parking lot on 3500 South Fort Street around 11:00 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the argument turned into a fight, and the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. The victim then ran across the street to 900 Fort Street, where he fell in the parking lot, police say. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

Police describe the shooter as 5-feet 9-inches tall, 175 pounds, clean shaven with an Afro. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants and armed with a handgun.

The investigation is ongoing.
