AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Auburn Hills Police Department has confirmed a fire at a residential complex in Auburn Hills.
Deputy Chief Scott McGraw said, police and fire were dispatched to the Countryside Townhouses on Brookshire near Walton at approximately 3:40 pm today.
Residents were safely evacuated and no injuries have been reported.
Fire crews from Auburn Hills, Rochester Hills and Orion Township Fire were on the scene extinguishing the fire. Within minutes of crews arriving, fire officials say, the fire quickly escalated to a two-alarm-fire.
The fire destroyed the first floor of the six-unit building and it may be a complete and total loss, fire officials said.
"I'm in shock right now. I just keep thinking about all of my family pictures and everything in my basement. I feel sick," said Jessica Nance, a resident who lost everything in the fire.
Every resident displaced by the fire will be provided with a safe and temporary place to stay tonight, Deputy Chief McGraw said.
The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
