Hollywood meets Flint. A new Lifetime TV movie about Flint will premiere tomorrow night in town with a red carpet.
The movie will air the first time on Lifetime on October 28 at 9pm.
Melissa Mays is a Flint mother turned activist who will be portrayed in the movie and was a behind the scenes advisor to keep the story real.
She is among 4 women in Flint who are featured as they realized their water was contaminated with lead and other contaminates. That was caused by a switch off Detroit’s water system to the Flint River in April of 2014 to save money.
Executive Producers include Katie Couric and Queen Latifah who also stars in the movie.
Executive Producer Neil Meron says the message of the movie is how the people took back the power while dealing with a “cover-up” in the water crisis. He also says viewers see how the human drama leads to inspiration.
Mays says this is day 1273 of the crisis and they are still suffering.
