After an anonymous thief tipped Ford off on where to find a decades-old timepiece that once hung inside of the Michigan Central Station, which the automaker bought earlier this month, the company is now on the hunt to find other items pillaged from the historic building.
For years, people illegally entered the train station after it closed in 1988 to take pictures of the abandoned building and looters stole its treasures. The train station, built in 1913, once stood as a symbol of Detroit’s demise, but now it’s looked at as its resurrection.

Now, Ford is aiming to restore the building’s splendor and has assembled a sort of “wish list” of stolen items it wants back in the 30 years it stood vacant.
The list includes:
Light fixtures
The clock that hung above the ticket window
Ticket window grills
Elevator transom panels
And decorative ornaments surrounding the large steel window

Anyone with information on these items, or any other items taken from the Michigan Central Station is asked to call 313-322-1092.
Ford purchased the Michigan Central Station for an undisclosed amount of money and plans to redevelop the 500,000 square foot beaux-arts structure into a hip house for the autonomous vehicles team, lease space to venture capitalists and develop luxury lofts.
The space is expected to be up and running by 2022.
