Forever 21 received backlash over a photo on its website Tuesday regarding a sweater related to the movie "Black Panther."
The photo was of a white model wearing a "Black Panther"-themed sweater that read "Wakanda Forever!" Some users on social media took offense.
The movie 'Black Panther' is set in the fictional African nation of Wakanda.
Forever 21 pulled the photo from its website and issued an apology, delivering the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter:
"Forever 21 takes feedback on our products and marketing extremely seriously. We celebrate all superheroes with many different models of various ethnicities and apologize if the photo in question was offensive in any way."
A tweet featuring the sweater was also taken down.
.@Forever21 just pulled this listing, apparently over the backlash: pic.twitter.com/9Y2FZv7jlj
