Former Inkster Police Chief Hilton Napoleon is keeping a close eye on the Florida case involving a North Miami officer shooting an unarmed man in the leg.

That's because his son is now the lawyer for behavior therapist Charles Kinsey.

He's a Detroit native now at the center of the latest high profile case involving an officer involved shooting.

Kinsey had his hands in the air Monday, when he was shot in the leg while trying to protect a patient with autism. A Florida police union says the officer thought the man with autism had a gun, and only fired his weapon to save Kinsey.

That gun turned out to be a toy truck.

Napoleon acknowledged his son concern for his relatives safety now, including his uncle Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon.

So far, police have not released any information about the officer who fired his weapon.
