Former MSU President Lou Anna Simon arraigned on charges related to Nassar scandal

Former Michigan State University President Lou Anna Simon was formally arraigned on felony charges Monday.

Simon is accused of lying to the police regarding the Larry Nassar scandal. According to court documents, she failed to disclose what she knew about the case.

In all, she was charged with two felony counts of lying to a peace officer in a violent crime investigation and two misdemeanor counts of lying to a peace officer.

She was given a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and will have to surrender her passport to the court.

If convicted, Simon faces up to four years in prison. She's due back in court December 18.
