Former State Sen. Peter Lucido, a Republican, has won the race to be the next Macomb County Prosecutor. He beat out former Judge Mary Chrzanowski.
The two looked to replace former Prosecutor Eric Smith, who resigned earlier this year after being charged with embezzlement and misconduct in office. Jean Cloud was appointed to fill his role in the interim and will serve until after the election.
Both candidates are large figures in Macomb County, with Lucido holding office in the State House and Senate, and Chrzanowski a well-known judge in the county.
Lucido faced allegations of sexual harassment by several women earlier this year. He was removed from a Senate committee and was forced to undergo additional training.
