Free screening of documentary about Nassar & USA Gymnastics at the DIA on Friday

(WXYZ) — The Detroit Institute of Arts is showing a free screening of "At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal" on Friday. It will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by our own Carolyn Clifford.

The documentary was produced by Dr. Steven Ungerleider and features exclusive interviews from Nassar survivors. The free screening is being provided in parternship with Child's Hope, Wayne County SAFE and Kids-TALK Children's Advocacy.

The discussion will include Producer Melanie Armenti Raffle of Sidewinder Films and the Foundation for Global Sports Development, gymnast survivor and WC SAFE’s Trinea Gonczar, gymnast survivor Jessica Ann Smith, lawyer Mick Grewal.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the film will start at 7 p.m. after a networking event with the panelists.

Then, on Saturday, there will be a "Let's Protect: Preventing Child Sexual Abuse" workshop from Wayne County SAFE at the University of Michigan Dearborn College of Education, Health and Human Services Building, 19000 Hubbard, Dearborn in the Michigan Room.
