(WXYZ) — A second ship has struck bottom after a freighter experienced engine failure and ran aground in the Detroit River near Grosse Ile early Wednesday . Chopper 7 went up over the Harvest Spirit, which is currently on the east side of Grosse Ile near Bois Blanc Island.

According to the Canadian Coast Guard, after the first grounding, which occurred around 6 a.m., all traffic was directed to go down the channel as long as they felt it was safe. The first cargo ship to attempt to pass the Harvest Spirit also touched ground, according to the coast guard.

A tug company is at the site of the incident trying to help the Harvest Spirit while the cargo ship Gardno is now anchored to assess any damage.

The Canadian Coast Guard said a navigational warning is being sent out advising other vessels to anchor or make alternative plans until the area is clear.
