DETROIT (WXYZ) — The funeral service for 9-year-old Emma Hernandez, who was mauled by dogs on Monday, will be held today.
The funeral service will be held on Aug. 24 at St. Cunegunda Catholic Church. The final viewing will be at 11 a.m. and Mass will be held at noon.
She was riding her bike when she was mauled to death by three pit bulls on Detroit's southwest side.
Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 23 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Professional Mortuary Services in Detroit. There was a family hour from 2 to 3 p.m., as well as a 6 p.m. Rosary service.
Emma will be buried at Woodmere Cemetary.
A vigil was held for Emma on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Hedwig Park.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses. As of Wednesday afternoon, nearly $50,000 has been raised.
