(WXYZ) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for retired Sterling Heights sergeant Daryl Brown who was killed in a crash Friday.

Police say Brown, 50, was crossing the street at Beaubien and Jefferson when the suspect hit him and fled the scene. Detroit police officers located and arrested the 30-year-old driver, identified as Jimi Pierowich. He was charged with operating while intoxicated causing death.
The visitation will be at the Wasik Funeral Home in Shelby Township on Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 27, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Police Pass and Review at 6 p.m. and an Honor Guard post from 7 to 8 p.m.
His funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 28, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
His family says in lieu of flowers, memoral donations can be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation or the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan.
