(WXYZ) — GFL Environmental has reversed course and will continue yard waste pickup in metro Detroit. The news comes just days after the company announced it was suspending yard waste pickup.
Over the weekend, cities worked with GFL management about the sudden suspension of service, and the company decided to resume yard waste collection.
Many communities say service will resume Tuesday morning. Depending on the city, GFL will either pick up yard waste when possible or on your regularly-scheduled day.
The company originally suspended yard waste pickup to keep up with the increasing amount of trash, and to keep front line employees safe from COVID-19.
