Governor Rick Snyder has announced a number of changes to his communications office, including a new director of communications.

The governor has appointed Ari B. Adler to the position of director.

Adler will be the governor's primary spokesperson. Deputy press secretaries Anna Heaton and Laura Biehl will assist Adler.

“Ari has a long history of service to the people of Michigan as a journalist, teacher and media relations professional,” Snyder said. “His experience in state government, the Legislature and the private sector have made him a trusted resource for journalists seeking to share information with the public.”

Press secretary David Murray, a longtime staffer, is being reassigned to another state agency, Department of Talent and Economic Development.

Communications Director Meegan Holland had been in her job since December. She will move to a position as a special projects manager in the governor's office.

The changes to Governor Snyder's communications team come as his office continues to deal with Flint's water crisis.
