DETROIT (WXYZ) — Nathaniel – who prefers to be called “Nate” – turned 15 in November. He’s been waiting to be adopted since May of 2017.

“I’m responsible. I’m known to be on task and get things done. I’m a good influence. I’m reliable, helpful,” said Nate, when asked to describe himself.

“The good thing about myself is I always have goals,” he added.

He enjoys going to school and getting good grades on assignments and tests. Math is his favorite subject.

When he grows up, he’d like to become an Information Security Analyst and do coding and online security for a living.

He currently lives in foster care on a ranch. This year, he’s learning how to ride a horse.

“My favorite thing about riding a horse is that I have control all over where we go,” said Nate.

If adopted, he would prefer a mom and dad and brothers who are younger.

“The main thing I’m looking for [is] if they’re going to work to keep me. It’s not if they’re going to want to do it and 2 months later not want to do it. It’s if they want to, they go ahead,” he explained.

“If I had my wish, I’d be out of foster care,” Nate added.
