DETROIT (WXYZ) — Family game nights. A trip to the beach. Dinner at home. Those are just some of the plans Niangel has when dreaming about being adopted out of Michigan’s foster care system.
The 17-year-old is in the 10th grade.
When asked how to describe herself she said, “I’m very funny. I’m kind. I love helping others. When somebody’s sad, I’ll always be there cracking jokes.”
Shopping is a fun activity for her, but -- believe it or not -- she likes doing chores.
“Most of the time when I’m bored, I clean. It’s very relaxing. I don’t like stuff being messy,” she explained.
She likes all kinds of music including Christian music and hip hop.
Her favorite sports to play are basketball and volleyball.
In school, she excels at math and science.
She wants to go to college one day and then become a pediatric nurse.
“I want to younger kids who have cancer or who is going through a rough time. I want to help them get better just like me,” she said.
She looks forward to traveling more in her future.
“I would like traveling to the Bahamas because I like the beach,” she smiled.
But what she really wants is to be adopted by a parent or a couple who will love her.
“What I’m looking for in a home is I want a Mom and a Dad who – when I go in their house -- will accept me for who I am, who will love me, and who will support me, who will treat me right, who will just be there for me, love me, who will be honest with me, who I can trust,” she said.
She’d love to spend time with her future family going on trips, shopping, watching movies together, baking or cooking dinner, and holding family game nights.
“I just want a family who will be there for me.” And then Niangel said, “We all need a home.”
