LAKE ORION, Mich. (WXYZ) — The groundbreaking on a massive marijuana cultivation facility in Lake Orion is expected to happen Thursday.
Natrabis said the groundbreaking for the 54,000-square-foot facility will happen Thursday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. on Liberty Drive.
According to Natrabis, the $20 million project will create one of the most technologically-advanced marijuana cultivation facilities in the state. It will also have its own processing center and plans for five retail locations.
The company is hiring for 65 positions, including plant managers, compliance officers, lab techs and more.
“We’re really excited to bring innovation and new industry opportunities to the local community and the state of Michigan,” said Nick Simpson, Natrabis Partner. “We’ve been in the industry for over 20 years and are committed to producing the highest quality cannabis at an affordable price through the use of cutting-edge technology, and we can’t wait to start growing with Michigan.”
It will use a Rhythm fertigation system that houses a built-in environmentally-friendly plant run reclaim. There will also be a state-of-the-art HVAC system that recaptures condensation and recycles it as clean water to irrigate the plants.
The facility is expected to be finished in February 2021.
